The 2019 Martin Luther King Day Celebration at Oneonta's Temple Beth El has been postponed until February 3 from 2-4 PM. The theme will be "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
THE MAKING OF A FUNDAMENTALIST is the February, First Friday "Discrimination Matters" NAACP film this month. It will start at 7pm. SUCO Professor Fida Mohammad will facilitate a discussion after the film in the Waterfront Room in the SUNY Oneonta Hunt Student Union Building. Please join us!
Lucy Meehan has been chosen for The Oneonta Area NAACP 2018 Tuition Assistance Award. She is involved with Future Farmers of America, National Honor Society, French and Spanish Honor Society, and Venturing Crew 8 at SUNY Cobleskill. Lucy is also a state gold ranked winner in the Agriscience Integrated Systems Proficiency Award, with her application being evaluated this summer by the National FFA for a chance to be a national finalist for this award area. In her free time Lucy enjoys volunteering, learning about foreign languages and different cultures, and traveling. Lucy says she has gained an appreciation and respect for cultures other than her own and knows that education is the key to racial equality in the United States. Lucy is currently attending Mississippi State University to study Food Science. In college she is looking forward to joining social activism clubs as well as Collegiate FFA. Someday, Lucy hopes to work for the USDA in the future as a Food Scientist.
